Table Tennis - National Report
Senior & Junior National Championships

Elite athletes
Our London bound athletes, Rena McCarron Rooney, Philip Quinlan, Eimear Breathnach and Ronan Rooney began their competitive preparation for London 2012 by competing at the Lignano Open in Italy. Good competitive experience was gained by all but unfortunately we were not represented on any podiums on this occasion. At the time of writing the team will be competing in the Slovenian Open.
Senior National Championships
We held our Table Tennis National Championships in conjunction with the ITTA National Championships at the beginning of March. Rena McCarron Rooney won the ladies singles event. Michael Cunningham won the men’s singles event. In the mixed doubles Michael Cunningham and John Finn emerged victorious.
Junior National Championships
On Sunday the 22nd of April IWA Sport proudly hosted its first ever National Junior Table Tennis Championships. Eleven athletes competed from clubs all over the country.
