IWA – Sport Basketball Cup Finals Report

Congratulations to Killester Wheelchair Basketball team who won the Paddy Byrne Cup
in a competitive encounter with Fr Matthews Wheelchair Basketball club at the end of May.
This result means Killester won the League and Cup double in the 2011 / 2012 season.
Congratulations also to Clonaslee Wheelchair Basketball Club who won the Tom Walsh /
Martin Green Cup defeating Galway Titans in the final.
The Cup Finals were the last competitive fixtures of the 2011 / 2012 season. This
season was a hugely successful season for a number of reasons; teams were set up with local players from local regions, teams affiliated with local Basketball Ireland clubs and fixtures were played on a home and away basis.
Huge thanks must go to the respective club coordinators who worked tirelessly all
season to ensure that all fixtures were played throughout the year in addition to
coordinating the running of their own club throughout the season.
Finally sincere thank you to Carl Riley and Paul Murphy from Irish Stairlifts and
Bathrooms who continued to sponsor our league and cup this season. Your
