Introduction to Coaching Practices Entry requirements: · 16 plus; · Registered Member and or a registered Volunteer of IWA-Sport; · Interest in Sport and Physical Activity; · No previous Coaching experience, just an interest in helping your club. Duration & Format: 6-8 hours over 1 or 2 day format (3-4 hours a day); Aim of the Course: This introduction to Coaching practices course is intended to give the prospective coaches an insight to the basic principle skills of coaching and encouraging their understanding of the coaching process. It will help to identify the key influencing factors that need to be considered when promoting physical activity working with participants of all ages. This course has been separately tailored for both IWA-Sport Clubs and IWA Resource Outreach Centres. IWA-Sport Clubs using Buntus materials to promote on basic chair movement skills and later basic Sport Skills to develop physical movement and control necessary to excel later in life, in sport as well as life. IWA Resource Outreach Centres will be using the Go for life programme, concentrating on increased participation in physical recreational activity and sport by older people. This course will allow non-qualified coaches to assist qualified coaches so that they can get practical experience within their club or resource centre, secure in the knowledge that an experienced coach is available for advice when needed. This is the first step of three on the IWA – Sport Coaching Ladder for persons wishing to progress to become coaches within IWA – Sport and partner NGB’s. Completion of Level One Coaching Course will allow you to be an Assistant Coach and Completion of Level Two will allow you to be come a Full IWA-Sport Coach for your club.
