6 athletes and 3 staff did Ireland proud on the world stage during the IWAS Junior World Championships.
Despite having no track athletes on board, Ireland still finished 11th of 20 countries with 7 medals.
The team returned with a medals tally of 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Our medallists were Lorraine Regan who won gold in shot, silver in discus and bronze in javelin. Orla barry won gold in discus. Jamie Boyle won gold in discus and silver in shot. And David Berry won bronze medal in discus.
This was a very competitive world class games for athletes under 23 and is becoming harder to win medals every year since its inception in 2005. Team manager Seamus Wall, coach Pat Furlong and staff Aisling Wall were more than happy with the way the athletes performed and trained despite mixed weather conditions which varied between very hot and very cold.
Congratulations to the entire team who are already looking forward to the Czech Republic in 2010.

The IWA Sport National Basketball Squad recently travelled to Latvia to participate in the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships Division C.

The standard was extremely high and indeed many of the teams participating included both full time professional and semi professional players.
Congratulations to the squad for their ongoing hard work and dedication to the training throughout the season past and their performance at the tournament.
Particular mention must be given to the hard working management team of Alain Tremblay, Quentin Barry and Orla Dempsey.
